Stellar Blade is simply stellar

How does one explain what Stellar Blade is briefly? Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and NieR: Automata had a child.

In the ever-expanding universe of gaming, new titles often draw comparisons to established classics, igniting debates among enthusiastic fans. One such title that has sparked intrigue is, the single player PS5 console exclusive, Stellar Blade.  As gamers and fans alike eagerly anticipate its release, speculation runs rampant about its potential similarities to two beloved masterpieces: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice"and NieR: Automata.

Combat Dynamics

Sekiro’s Precision mixed with Nier’s Fluidity

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice sets a high bar for combat mechanics with its emphasis on precision, timing, and skilful swordplay. Each encounter in Sekiro is a delicate dance of parries, counters, and decisive strikes, challenging players to hone their abilities to overcome formidable foes. Stellar Blades not only offer players the regular dodge, they also introduce Blink and Repulse. Both are essentially extra dodging mechanics; however, they may only be used against specific attacks. It may be challenging at the beginning to know which to move to used to counter an attack, but once you get the gist of it, it feels incredible.

NieR: Automata captivates players with its fluid and dynamic combat system, seamlessly transitioning between melee attacks and long-range gunfire. Referring to the trailer, it appears that at a certain point in the game, Eve (Us, the player) will be able to use a long-range gun-type weapon. IGN has highlighted the gun combat, describing an encounter where the players can reveal a weak spot on one of the bosses and how you can deal a heavy damage if you’re fast enough to ‘fire’ at the exposed weak spot.

Earth, or what's left of it

In the story of Stellar Blade, you play as Eve, one of many cybernetic enhanced warriors (mainly woman) sent to liberate Earth from a race of ‘gorgeous’ looking aliens, Naytiba —cough cough, similarly to Nier Automata with the machines—

While details about the storyline are still speculative, considering the studio’s track record, it’s reasonable to expect an exploration of existential themes.
